What is Weaving?

Weaving is the basic principle of the fabric. It consists of crossing two series of threads: some longitudinal (= the warp), and the other transversal (= the weft) that are manually inserted, crossing them with the threads of the warp with the help of a weaving loom.

With this "DIY" technique, you can use strands of different thicknesses and colors to create designs that you can later turn into tablecloths, tapestries, cushions, or rugs - whatever you want! It's easy to do and with a little practice, you can make all kinds of designs.

What material is needed to practice Weaving?

To practice weaving, you need some skeins of varying thickness and colors, a weaving loom, weaving shuttles, a weaving needle, comb, scissors, instructions and a strong thing cotton to prepare the warp.

We offer Weaving Loom Kits with all tools alongside the Weaving Loom of your choice and we also offer Weaving Creative Kits, which are basically Weaving Loom Kits with an additional big set of fibers in a curated color range. With this kit you can quick start your weaving practice. If you can't choose between different fibers, try one of our bundles, which offer different fibers of the same color shade in one bundle.

With what fibers can Weaving be practiced?

With weaving, you can mix and match various thicknesses, textures and colors of fibers to achieve different patterns and results. You can use any type of fibers, from the thickest to the finest, from the most regular to the most extravagent, so to let your creative juice flows😉. This is also a good way to get rid of your leftovers. Did you know you can even use fabrics and plant materials?

What is a Weaving Loom?

A weaving loom is a frame made of wood with notches to be able to set up a warp and create textiles. This type of loom has been in use for several decades. The great advantage of our looms is the fact that you can rotate the upper and lower bars, which allow you to adjust the tension of the warp threads while you are weaving. How do I choose the best loom size for my projects? What size of Weaving can you create?

The width of your weaving loom (from first to last notch (=weaving area), not to be confused with the frame itself) determines the maximum width of your woven piece. Remember that you can continue creating smaller weavings on a big loom, but not the other way around. This is why our biggest loom sizes are more versatile because they are suitable for any type of project. While it is possible to sew several woven pieces together to create bigger projects, we recommend to pick a size of loom that matches your future project goals. If you are hesitating between two sizes, we recommend going for the bigger loom size in order not to get frustrated or having to purchase a second loom in some time.
Same happens on the contrary: if you are unlikely to make very large pieces, you may want to choose between sizes small, medium, and large.

The size of the loom does not affect the difficulty. The principle is the same, just on a larger scale.

The lenght of all 4 loom sizes can be easily increased by using the extra long warp technique. This technique allows you to create textiles up to 2 meters long, depending on the weaving loom that you use and the thickness of the fibers. Only the width is conditioned by the size of the loom.

It is not The smallest loom sizes are great options for a first loom for beginners, kids or to make samples for your bigger weaving projects. It's also your best travel companion! They are easy to manipulate and work with flat on a table or on your knees. Perfect for small projects like coasters, bookmarks, or small pieces of fabric. The biggest looms have a stand for you to weave more comfortably and allow you much more possibilities in term of the final woven piece size.

How do I know what Loom and Fiber to use?

Depending on the size of your project, you should use a Loom of that size. It is hard to create big projects on small looms, but doable to create small projects on big looms. You can choose which Fibers you want to use depending on the colors you like. but also the thickness of the fibers, which will determine how you project will turn out in the end.

How are your products made? Where do the materials come from?

We ensure that all our products, including supplies and materials, are made from high quality that will last you for a long time. Our fibers are mainly from India, most of them are handmade in small batches. Other yarns are produced in Turkey, France, Belgium, or Spain.

How long does it take?

It depends on several factors: your skill level, the type of garment, and the material.

The color I want is out of stock. Can you notify me when it's restocked?

Re-stocking of colors and materials depends upon the season. In summer, priority is given to petite wools, cotton and other lighter fabrics, and vice versa in winter with heavier fibers.

We deliver almost wherever you are, all over the world! If you cannot find your country, please write to us and we'll see what we can do. We often open deliveries to more countries.

How long will it take to arrive? What shipping methods do you offer?

Transit times depend on the destination and the shipping method you choose. Below shipping times are expressed once you received your shipping confirmation by email. The order preparation normally does not take more than 1 to 3 business days maximum:

- Belgium, The Netherlands: 1-2 business days
- Rest of Europe: 2-10 business days. It usually arrives within 2-5 business days.
- USA, Canada: 1-3 business day
- Rest of the world: 4-15 business days

How do I apply for free shipping?

We offer free worldwide shipping for all orders over €180/$200/£156/CAD264. Enjoy!

How can I track my order?

You will be notified by e-mail once the shipping label is created. The actual shipment takes place soon after. This email includes a tracking number for you to track your order in real time.

My order hasn't arrived, what should I do?

We apologize for any delays in the delivery process. If your order is delayed or seems to be lost, write to us and we will find the best solution so you get what you ordered as soon as possible.

How much does shipping cost ?

Will there be any duties to pay?

Duties may apply depending on the destination, and it is the customer's responsibility to cover any applicable fees.

Please note that the UK is no longer part of the EU:
- Orders under 135 GBP are sent DDP (delivered duty paid)
- Orders over 135 GBP are sent DAP (delivered at Place)

What shipping companies do you use?

The majority of our shipments is being delivered by FedEx (USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, etc.). You can choose for Economy or Priority, depending on your preference and the country that you live in.
Shipments to France, Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands and more, are being shipped with BPost. This is standard mail post and handled by partners of BPost in the country of destination.

My order

I just placed an order but I made a mistake and I want to change it or cancel it?

If you decide to change your order, or made a mistake, please let us know as soon as possible with a maximum of 24 hours after your purchase and we will try our best before it ships. Please note that we cannot guarantee these types of requests since it depends, among other factors, on your reactivity, the status of your order and the volume of orders in preparation at that time. We launch the preparation process as quickly as possible to minimize our deadlines.

Cancellations are accepted only for orders that are not shipped yet.

I have not received what I ordered, some products are incorrect and/or missing. What can I do?

We recommend that you first check the packing slip that you'll find inside your package (or your confirmation email). This is the resume of your order, with the details of all item(s) purchased. The products you receive should match with the packing slip.
If it is not the case, in terms of color, reference or quantities, please contact us and we will get back to you quickly to solve this issue.

What can I do if items arrive damaged?

Although rare, occasionally an item may suffer damage during transport, or may be defective. We apologise for the inconvenience. Please send an email to hello@funemstudio.com with images of the outside (including a photo of the shipping label) and inside of the package and the damaged items within 3 days after receipt and we will get back to you offering the best solution possible.

We can only offer a solution for claims received within 3 days after receiving the items.


How do I return my order?

Please note that shipping costs for the return are at your own expense. You have 14 days to return your order once you have received it. All products seeking a refund must be returned in their original condition and complete with all items.

As soon as we receive your return package, we will initiate the refund process.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns from outside the EU due to additional customs fees and taxes.

How long does it take for a refund to be issued?

Once you returned your products, your payment will be made within a few days after. The refund is made to the same account where you initially paid from.

How do I use my discount code?

Discount codes are applied at checkout.
Codes are not case sensitive. Type your code in the "Discount code or gift card" field, click on "Apply", and that’s it! The amount of your cart is automatically adjusted.

The code doesn’t work, what can I do?

This can happen for several reasons; the most common being that the code has expired, it was inserted incorrectly, you are trying to purchase an excluded item or that you haven’t reached the minimum purchase necessary to use the code.

Please bear in mind that Fūnem Studio is based in Belgium. If your bank has surcharges for transactions outside the US, please understand that we cannot be held responsible.

I didn’t receive the order confirmation email, did my payment go through?

Once you have placed your order, you will receive an email confirming your order. Please check your spam folder first, as the emails are generated by our system automatically upon the successful processing of your order and can be flagged as spam.

If you haven’t received your confirmation email, write to us and we will let you know if your order was processed correctly. If might be due to a glitch or a typo in the email address.

My order is a gift, what do I have to do?

What a great idea! Don't worry, you don't have to change anything in your purchasing process.

You can either send the parcel directly to the lucky receiver or have it delivered to your home and give it to the receiver later. If you opt for the first choice, you don't have to worry about the prices as they are not shown in any way, the parcel doesn't include an invoice.

At the moment, we don't have the option to add a personal note to the parcel.

⚠ If you are sending a package as a gift to a country outside of the EU, please keep in mind that, due to customs laws, we may have to put the invoice of your order in the package, which will always include the prices.

Where can I see the order I placed?

You can see the order you placed either in your email inbox (order confirmation email), and in your customer account on our website if you placed your order through your customer account.

How can I create an account?

Click here to create a customer account in no time. Among other advantages, this allows you to keep track of your orders.

I forgot the password for my account, how can I change it?

Just click on the 'Forgot your password?' button when trying to login, type the email address linked to your customer account and you will receive an email to reset your password. How do I redeem a gift card?

Start by adding articles to your cart as you normally would.
When you are finished shopping and go to checkout, you will see a field labeled “Discount code or gift card”.
Type the code found in the email of the online gift card, and click on “Apply”.
Automatically the cart total is updated taking into account the value of the card.

Can I include a personal message with the gift card?

Unfortunately at the moment this option is not available, however, we promise to work on it to continue improving the website.

The gift card was not received. What should I do?

Your gift card code is sent to the buyer by email right after the purchase. Please check the spam folder to ensure it didn't end up in the wrong place.

If you still can't find it, contact us and we will find a quick solution to get you to the party on time 😉.

Do you offer weaving workshops or classes?
